Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh is set to mark World Quantum Day with a major push to emerge as India’s quantum technology hub, aiming to rank among the world’s top five quantum ecosystems by 2030.

The State government is promoting startups, innovation and research collaborations under a “Made in Amaravati” vision to drive indigenous quantum product development.

As part of the ambitious Amaravati Quantum Valley (AQV) project, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate two advanced quantum computer test beds on April 14, one at SRM University, Amaravati, and another virtually at Medha Towers in Gannavaram.

These Quantum Reference Facilities will make Andhra Pradesh the first state in India to host a dedicated quantum testing and certification ecosystem. Built using indigenous technologies, the facilities will enable validation of quantum computing hardware and components. The 1Q test bed at Medha Towers, developed by Qubitech, and the 1S test bed at SRM University, based on superconducting technology, operate at ultra-low temperatures nearing -273°C. These systems are designed for rigorous testing of quantum devices. The open-access facility at SRM University will support researchers, students, startups and companies by providing a platform for experimentation and validation.

The initiative is expected to accelerate research, innovation and industry collaboration in the emerging quantum domain. Leading institutions including the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Indian Institute of Science and Defence Research and Development Organisation have provided technical support.

The launch event will see participation from National Quantum Mission representatives, IIT professors, scientists, startup founders and scholars, with over 1.5 lakh students joining virtually.
